Project summary

AboveBoardPros matches homeowners with contractors it screens against state business registries, and every listing shows what was checked and when. It is free for homeowners, and listings cannot be bought. It covers 23 metros in 13 states across the Midwest and South.

Under the public site is a full marketplace platform, the largest build in this showroom. One Next.js 16 codebase serves two brands (AboveBoardPros for homeowners and RemodelingAdvisor for contractors who buy leads) and runs admin, partner and affiliate portals. Each request enters a real-time auction where in-network partners and outside buyers compete, and the winning lead is delivered to a CRM, a webhook or email. Billing runs on Stripe with a ledger and automated weekly settlement, and every request form is gated behind TCPA consent with a TrustedForm certificate.

The live sitemap holds 1,101 URLs: state, metro and city pages built from census and market data, a service page for each trade in each metro, and 76 cost and hiring guides. Mobile Performance scores 99.

Build timeline

A greenfield build at this scale ships in stages. Each phase went live on the foundation the previous one proved.

A lead marketplace for contractors

Contractors can see how leads are graded into tiers, and how an exclusive lead differs from a shared one, before they talk to anyone.

Behind the pages, each homeowner request enters one auction where in-network partners and outside ping/post buyers compete in real time. The winning lead is delivered to a CRM, a custom webhook or email.

The RemodelingAdvisor home page, the contractor-facing brand, with a "Stop Chasing Leads. Start Closing Projects." hero above three tiers of lead inventory and CRM integrations., on a phone
RemodelingAdvisor (remodelingadvisors.com), the second brand, runs from the same deployment as AboveBoardPros.

Two brands from one platform

Homeowners and the contractors who buy leads each get a site written for them, without a second codebase to maintain.

AboveBoardPros and RemodelingAdvisor run from one deployment. The domain decides the brand, and each brand gets its own pages, sitemap and robots file.

Quoted

The Chicago metro page: "Home Improvement in Chicago" with 181 cities covered, 9.4 million metro residents and the median household income range, beside a service picker, above cost-vs-value cards for each trade., on a phone
A metro page pulls in census figures and sourced cost-vs-value data.

Metro pages built from census and cost data

A homeowner searching for work in their metro lands on a page with real local numbers, not a generic page with the city name swapped in.

Each metro page carries census population and household income, plus mid-range project costs and resale returns from the 2025 Remodeling Cost vs. Value report, and links to a page for each trade.

Included in Growth

The request form ends in explicit, unchecked consent boxes. Sample text only, nothing submitted.

Every homeowner request carries a record that the person agreed to be contacted.

Submit stays disabled until both boxes are ticked (property ownership, and consent to calls and texts). A TrustedForm certificate is required before the request is sent, and the exact wording, its version and a timestamp are stored with the lead. Routing stops if consent is missing, and a browser Global Privacy Control signal is treated as an opt-out of sale unless the visitor consents for that request.

Included in every plan

Bring your own TrustedForm account (from ActiveProspect) for consent certificates. We connect it to your forms.
